Celebrating 10,000 Followers on Twitter: What Next?

In recent weeks, Thrive has reached the 'ultimate' Twitter goal of reaching 10,000 followers.

There's something particularly magical about that number as it goes from 9,999 to simply 10K (unless you hover over it).

However when you reach this 'magical' number, what happens then?

More followers

We seemed to hover around the 9,900-99,999 for a LONG time. In fact, the whole period we were at 9,000 - 9,999 followers took a LONG time.

It's true that since we hit 10K followers, the numbers have increased rapidly, without us dong anything different. There's definitely something to be said for having 10K organic followers and its impact on future following rates.

Increased tweet impressions

Our tweets are being seen by more people. Engagements haven't particularly changed for us yet, but it's early days. However impressions are on the rise, which may be linked to our speedier increase in followers.

More followers = more impressions?

It's suggested by some that once you hit 10K followers, you accumulate more because many people look to follow others with 10K plus followers. This may be a factor in our current impressions spike.

What's next?

Of course, we should bear in mind that we haven't long reached 10K and it will take a longer study period before we find some solid evidence, but the early signs are promising!

The most important piece of advice is to keep going! For anyone that reaches this achievement, celebrate, but don't let things slide. Keep engaging, keep creating fantastic content and keep following great people on the Twittersphere. Only by doing this will you see long-term success.
