5 Tips to Get More Likes on Your Instagram Posts

Since launching in 2010, Instagram is now one of the most popular photo sharing apps.

With an array of filters to choose from and a witty caption to be written, it can be difficult to know where to start. How do you achieve the perfect picture? Is there a technique to quickly get to 11 likes?

Well, we’ve got your back because here are 5 tips to set you up for Insta-success!

01. Use high quality photos

The chances are that if you see a blurry photo in your feed, your finger will automatically swipe past. Make sure to use auto focus! Try to use a DLSR camera if possible for the best quality. If not, the back facing camera of your phone produces way better images than the front facing one.

02. Try to take interesting images

Think carefully about framing - keeping your subject within two thirds tends to look more aesthetically pleasing. Remember that the more eye-catching your picture is, the more likely someone will stop and double tap.

03. Don’t over-edit

Just because you have lots of filters to choose from, it doesn’t mean you should try them all. Try to stick to one particular style and feel free to use additional editing apps like VSCO Cam. The pictures that gain the most likes are those that are hardly edited but look bright with a heavy contrast.

04. Use appropriate hashtags

Using hashtags is a great way to find similar photos to your own, as well as allowing people who don’t necessarily follow you to discover your account. Try to use popular ones if possible; they will have way more reach than those you’ve just made up on the spot.

05. Plan to upload at a certain time

Instagram’s new algorithm may mean that photos are no longer displayed in chronological order, yet it is still important to upload at times where activity is high. Try to think about when your followers may be browsing social media; perhaps during a lunch break or before going to bed? Aim to post when your followers are active and you will get likes much quicker.

Follow these tips and be prepared for masses of likes to stream in!
