Bishop Auckland Market Success with Thrive Marketing & Brand Support

One of our biggest projects in the last few months of 2014 was overseeing the brand development, PR and photography at Bishop Market’s Christmas Spectacular Weekend, working with our client, South Durham Enterprise Agency.

We have a secret penchant for Event Management, so it was great to get involved with the inaugural weekend of what should become an annual enjoyment for the Bishop Auckland community.

A marketing strategy had to be first decided on with Steve Robson, at the South Durham Enterprise Agency, as to our involvement in the project and what would be expected from our efforts.

This process snowballed quickly and we were soon designing graphics and branding for the Bishop Market event, which would be used on social media accounts and promotional flyers.

Our Graphic Designer, Tom, overseen the brand development as he focused on a Christmas / winter feel of snowflakes and a luxurious purple as the main colour.

Soon we were strategising the PR focus for Bishop Market, as we actually had a short turnaround time to make the general public aware of this fantastic weekend, which included:

  •     Christmas Light Switch On
  •     School Lantern Parade
  •     Two Christmas Markets
  •     Christmas Event including another market at Bishop Auckland College

We teamed up with SDEA to focus on a huge flyer campaign, local radio updates and social media. Thanks to our early adoption of social media [Facebook / Twitter], we managed to quickly garner attention on Facebook particularly, as other local pages readily shared content about our upcoming weekend.

Using ‘exclusive’ social media posts with the never-before-seen flyers and creating Twitter lists of attending stall holders, we garnered fans at a speedy pace and it took no time at all for locals to share our status updates with local friends and family.

When pre-event promotion was done with it was time for the weekend itself, collaborating with the South Durham Enterprise Agency team we uploaded photography as the stalls were being set up.

Plus, our photographer was on hand to capture the event and in all of its Christmassy glory too!

Although we were collaborating with SDEA to promote the Food Market being held in Bishop Auckland Market Place, we also did our best to share and collate information from other event organisers to promote the whole weekend as one.
