Are you hoping for more visitors to your website?

There are steps that you - or your web agency - can work through to ensure that you have your website, search and content marketing best setup to capture 'more' leads.

Here's our top five - on the 5th of November - to see your web traffic boom - like a firework.

#1. Structure your search tactics

We have created a wealth of SEO-related blog posts over the years, so browse those for all of the must-do search tips, as well as our SEO ebook.

One of the key bits of easily-implemented advice is to focus on creating content that matches potential customers' long-tail queries.

Long-tail keywords are specific phrases within your industry, which may have less hits, but those hits are more focused and more likely to purchase.

For example,

  • Professional carpet cleaner
  • Professional carpet cleaner in Leeds

#2. Differentiate blog content

Vary your blog content types, so that some are news/time-related, some are focused on your location (if that's relevant to you) and some are evergreen.

Evergreen blog content is like gold dust for your social media channels and to potential new customers for the rest of your company's longevity.

Evergreen means that it doesn't date and therefore can be used and re-shared over and over, so that users can continue to find you via that content years after it was published.

Other great tips for blogging, is increasing your use of internal links in posts and becoming a guest blogger on other companies' blogs.

#3. Optimise your social activity

Don't just 'exist' on social media, become a pro at experimenting with different content types across the different relevant social platforms for your company.

Be relevant and post to LinkedIn if you're a professional-facing company, i.e. estate agent. accountant etc. Tag influencers and respected brands and organisations in tweets an don't be afraid to actively speak with these people on Twitter as your company.

#4. Play with Facebook Advertising

Even if you only ever do it once, do it.

Facebook has an incredibly powerful advertising platform that allows you to drill into specific interests and demographics of an audience, so that you can target them based on their location, marital status, interest in a TV programme or hobby, etc.

Whatever your company's role or industry, it's highly likely that you can in some way benefit from using Facebook Advertising.

#5. Consider your site build's impact

Our web developers will tell you straightaway that there are any number of things to do with your website that means your website traffic isn't as good as it should be.

Typically the first two issues are:

  • Responsiveness
  • Speed

If your website isn't properly built for mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets, then you're going to turn away this ever-growing audience base.

Secondly, if your website takes long to load or has Flash elements that causes it to crash or be slow, you will instantly get users clicking that 'X' and finding a competitor with a stronger website.
