When thinking of new blog ideas, it can be difficult to understand what your targeted audience actually want to read about.

Your writing must educate your reader - answering their burning questions or anticipating any problems that they will need to know the solution for.

“A blog is only as interesting as the interest shown in others.” ― Lee Odden

How do you find out what your readers want?

Buzzsumo’s new Question Analyzer is a handy tool that scours the internet to find out what people are asking about within your industry.

To go into more detail, a recent Buzzsumo blog explained exactly how the tool works...

“The Question Analyzer crawls hundreds of thousands of forums, as well as sites such as Quora, Reddit and Amazon. We parse out and group all the questions being asked on any topic or product from across all these sites and provide you with a link to the actual discussion and answers.”

How can you use this tool?

  1. First, sign up to Buzzsumo - they are currently offering a 14 day free trial and after this period has ended you can pay for a monthly or annual subscription.
  2. Once you have signed up, you will be able to view the opening form for the Question Analyzer.

As you can see, they are many different options that that you can play around with on the sidebar. You can ‘filter by date’ so as to only see the most pressing questions from the last week or month. Also, you can select where you want the information to be generated from - for example, you can exclude submissions from Reddit in order to concentrate your query.

  1. Entering the keyword ‘social media’ and filtering the data for the past month has generated the following questions.

Underneath the search bar, there are two options to choose from, ‘topics’ or ‘all questions’. Choosing ‘topics’ allows you to focus your search on an individual point, which will make your content more specific and relevant for your reader.

This tool is beneficial as you can find out new angles to use on topics that you may have already covered within your blog. It can also help with SEO - if you know the keywords that people are searching for then you can use this to your advantage in order to boost your blog’s views.

Why not try searching for your industry’s key terms and see what you can find?
