Instagram’s short video functionality launched in 2013 and ultimately took the social media world by storm!

Many businesses have since used creative and inventive ways to connect with their existing and potential customers via Instagram video...

Of course, Instagram is predominantly known for its photo sharing capabilities, but with this new feature there is a whole host of new reasons why businesses should be taking a moment to look at this platform.

Let's look at the facts...

  • Instagram allows a maximum of 15 seconds of video time (that's more than double the 6 seconds that its closest rival, Vine, offers)!
  • It also lets to alter the video, so you can shorten a clip or even delete a particular segment instead.
  • Instagram lets you use their infamous filters and editing options on your videos too.
  • You can also use a still shot from the video as the front image, that means when it appears onto your followers' News Feeds they will see an image-style update before the video clip plays.

Tips for using Instagram Video as a business...

Capture your customers using your product

Show potential clients why they need your product by using your current customers' experience and first hand evidence of how your product / service works or has benefited them!

Display the art of your business

Share your products in a creative way through your Instagram Videos - place them in weird ways, make them look like something else, think of creative ways to get potential customers to view your product through your Instagram, especially your videos.

Hashtags!

I don't mean using a hashtag just to #putallofyourwordstogether. I mean use relevant keywords that describe the image and create useful hashtags - ones that other people will search for.

Look at one of our Instagram uploads as an example:

 untitled

The hashtags used are appropriate and relevant, don't just include any old hashtag, hoping it will get your profile noticed.

Make your video a contest

Who doesn't love a contest? A way to get your brand seen would be to encourage people to enter your competition by posting a video or photo onto their Instagram with your hashtag or profile tagged.

Create teasers

If your company is releasing an advert or a YouTube video, then why not make a shorter version to get your Instagram followers interested?

Don't forget to share

Got a company profile on Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr? Link them to your Instagram and share your videos and pictures with your followers and friends.
