Facebook’s Pixel allows you to measure the effectiveness of your advertising by understanding the actions people take on your website.

With the Facebook pixel, you can:

  • Make sure your ads are being shown to the right people
  • Build advertising audiences
  • Unlock additional Facebook advertising tools

Why Use the Facebook Pixel?

Reach the right people

Find new customers, or people who have visited a specific page or taken a desired action on your website. Plus, create Lookalike Audiences to reach more people who are similar to your best customers.

Drive more sales

Set up automatic bidding to target people who are more likely to take an action you care about, like making a purchase. See how to optimise your ad sets for conversions.

Measure the results of your ads

Understand how successful your ad is by seeing what happened as a direct result. You can view information like your conversions and sales. Find out what data you can see from your Facebook pixel page.

Before you get started with Facebook Pixel, you will need to have a working website for your business and be able to access the website’s code. Otherwise, you will need to contact your Developer, who will be able to complete this setup process for you. If you’re a Thrive customer, get in touch with our team for assistance!

How to Set up Your Own Facebook Pixel

This is our brief walk-through of creating a Facebook Pixel, for further details check out our comprehensive, new for 2018, Facebook Marketing ebook.

1. Go to the ‘Pixels’ tab in Events Manager and select ‘Create a Pixel’. Click ‘Create’ that appears to finish creating your pixel.

Once you’ve created your Pixel, using Facebook’s handy walk-through, you will need to add it to your website, which is when you’re often best to ask your Developer for help.

If someone else in charge of your website, go to Pixels in Ads Manager and click ‘Set up Pixel’ and ‘Email Instructions to a Developer’. However, if you’re responsible for updating your website’s coding, follow these instructions below.

2. Locate the header code for your website and copy and paste the code into the header of your website. Check that the code works properly by selecting ‘Send Test Traffic’.

Now your code should be “Active”, ensuring that it has been installed correctly. If you wish to track particular actions on your site, such as someone making a purchase, you need to install additional code.

To do this, we recommend viewing the Facebook help guide and asking us for specific help with setting up custom events.

If you're looking to embark on a website build project, whether it's completely from scratch or a site refresh, our ebook will give you the knowledge to make your project as stress-free as possible.
