Has Your Facebook Business Page Had a Makeover?

Facebook has had a late, but very apparent, spring clean, with its business pages in recent weeks.

Have you noticed a change in the appearance of yours, or others’, pages?

The new design has completely flipped business pages on their head – quite literally – with About, Photos, Videos, Events, Notes and Reviews and other side sections moving from their home on the left, to the right.

Additionally, your logo is slightly less in focus and the main sight line is now being given to your cover photo – calling for an urgent update of your cover photo!

These changes were first noticed on a few business pages over the last couple of months, but the global rollout has just occurred.

Your business page is now looking cleaner, slicker and generally more focused on getting the attention of your visitor, with your call-to-action button getting huge prominence with a long blue design at the top of your page.

Cover photos are sized the same – 828 x 315px – but they no longer need to be positioned to fit around your page name or logo image.

Of course, if your company designed your cover photo to intertwine with your profile picture (no size changes here either, it remains 170 x 170px), this will need to change.

The biggest change, from a business point of view, is the removal of desktop ads on Facebook business pages, but Facebook has already revealed [Source: Techcrunch], through its recent earnings that it is no longer generating most of its money in this way.

In fact, now 84 percent of Facebook’s ad revenue is from mobile [Source: Search Engine Journal], a fact that businesses will resonate with, given that most of us see most ads garner success from mobile ads, over desktop.
