Forget 60 second videos on Instagram, because now you can publish hour long content with IGTV.

Not only have Instagram finally hit 1 billion users since their launch in 2010, but now they’ve introduced a new feature, IGTV. Taking inspiration from YouTube, Kevin Systrom, Co-Founder & CEO of Instagram, states this exciting application is “for watching long-form, vertical video from your favourite Instagram creators”.

You can choose to download the standalone app, IGTV, or use the feature by selecting the top right icon from your Instagram feed.

One big difference that makes IGTV stand out from its competitors is the vertical video format. Designed for the mobile user, there’s no need to rotate your phone to watch or record. This encourages anyone with a phone to start creating their own content, whether you’re a business, blogger or general user.

What Type of Content Can I Share?

So you want to make your own IGTV videos, but you’re not sure where to start? Here are a few ideas to give you some inspiration...

Behind The Scenes

Show your audience your everyday routine. Whether you want to bring them along for a 'day in the life' or give them exclusive access to a new product launch, this is a great way to build a strong relationship with your customers.

Tutorials

Create a video to go over a process step by step which your customer can refer back to whenever they wish. This is a great platform for creative industries to show off their talents from makeup artists replicating their favourite designs to a bakery demonstrating how to prepare their most popular cake.

Business or Industry News

Keep your audience updated on the latest goings-on in your business or wider industry. Has Becky just joined the IT department? Is Facebook having another data crisis? Be the first to share the news.

Interviews

This type of video content is beneficial if you have brand influencers or ambassadors working with your business. Invite them in for a quick chat and amplify your reach across IGTV.

Q&As

Questions and answers are the best way to encourage audience interaction. Ask your customers for their burning questions and answer the most popular ones in a weekly segment.
