Is it time to spruce up your social media profile?

With over 328 million monthly Twitter users, it is important for your profile to be attractive to your target audience in order to get their follow.

Whether you’re just starting out on this platform or want more engaged followers, it’s essential to make a great first impression. The ultimate goal is to stand out from the crowd and most importantly, be the one who is remembered amongst your competitors. So how do you make your brand more distinctive?

1. Make your profile picture relevant

Whether it’s your brand logo or an image of a person for an individual’s company account, pick something that will identify who you are. Choose a bright, high-quality image in order to make an impact due to the small profile picture proportions.

Also, do take into account that Twitter has changed all icons to a circle - it wouldn’t help your brand recognition if your logo was half missing.

2. Rewrite your Twitter bio

Twitter’s character restriction means you only have 160 characters to tell your audience what your company’s mission and values are. Make sure to include industry-relevant keywords in order to rank high in searches.

3. Update your link

You can only include one link within your bio, so make it count. It may be wise to choose your website if you have one, but don’t be afraid to mix it up regularly by linking to an offer or a specific landing page.

4. Use a branded Twitter header

Everything in your profile needs to be brand specific and your header is no different. Choose something that reflects your company such as your story or a recent campaign.

As you can see below, River Island have chosen to feature a branded hashtag to invite engagement.

5. Take advantage of the ‘Pin Tweet’ feature

This is a great opportunity to place your most important post directly in front of your audience. Choose something that will add value to a potential customer, ultimately making them wish to see more of your content.
