Whatever your sales and marketing position is you will have to face a networking session.

There is something so either tedious, terrifying or terribly awkward about introducing yourself at these events - even when you've done hundreds!

Use our tips to help you with the introductions so that you can hopefully feel less of all three of those feelings.

"While we're here, I might as well introduce myself."

Perfect for any and all queues for toilets, food, seats and in fact being sat waiting for a speech/presentation to start.

"Hi, I'm [insert name here]!"

So simple, yet so effective. You only have to keep it going with similarly basic statements that involve asking about their job role, where they live, how their journey was, what the weather is like...

"Are you having issues with the WiFi?"

This, from HubSpot, is pure genius. Everybody has an opinion on the quality of the WiFi and if they're having a miraculously great experience they will retell a tale of a time that it didn't.

"Are you here with coworkers?"

If you spot someone on their own then go over with this question. Whether they are or aren't alone it's sure to start a conversation about why they're there and their company!

We hope these ideas provide a few nuggets of inspiration for your next daunting networking session!

If you're looking to embark on a website build project, whether it's completely from scratch or a site refresh, our ebook will give you the knowledge to make your project as stress-free as possible.
