Lead generation is not the easiest of processes and there are a lot of mistakes that you will most likely make along the way.
To help you get started or to improve your lead generation activities, we're offering the following advice for absolutely FREE!
Conversion Rate Optimisation: CRO is a system for increasing the percentage of visitors to a website that convert into customers, or more generally, take any desired action on a webpage. It is commonly referred to as CRO. (Source: Wikipedia)
1. Don't make your user think
It sounds a 'bit mad' but your visitor shouldn't need to 'think' about the process they're going through or need to follow, it should just be a natural move for them.
Avoid giving them too much information and never give them other options - there should be one clear objective which is performed in one clear way.
Tell your visitor what they should be doing and why - that's it.
2. Are your messaging and imagery working for each other or against one another?
It's important that all elements of your campaign - which is to get this person to perform said conversion action - work together. They must all have the same goal and 'pair up' with one another in this effort.
If the value proposition for your offer positions your company as a local North East business, don't use stock photography of an office with the Empire State Building in the background.
Activities like this cause conversion friction - which is essentially confusion on the visitor's part about the conversion process they thought they were going to take.
3. Clear is better than clever, in every sense
Whether it's the design or the wording or the process you're expecting a person to take, you need to be clear and simple, over clever and complex.
Don't say 24 words when it could be said with six.
Equally, don't make your landing page a design that is so intricately detailed that it could be in an art gallery, but ultimately, doesn't do the job - convert!
