  1. Fourth largest day of spending after winter holidays, back to school and Mother's Day. (Source)
  2. Older millennials spend the most on Valentine's Day - 25-34-years-olds are estimated to spend on average $234.  (Source)
  3. More than 50% of Americans identify themselves as having no specific partner/being single, so long term couples aren't the only target market. (Source)
  4. People will still spend around $36 on their friend! On average, a significant other will get a gift to the value of $99. (Source)
  5. Bing searches for 'Valentine's Gifts for...' show that 'husband' at 22% and 'friend' at 20% are the highest searched. (Source)
  6. Valentine's Day gift-giving is usually done in the two weeks beforehand, making it an incredible short bracket to advertise in. Schedule campaigns 1 month - 2 weeks in advance (Source)
  7. Mobile searches are crucial - 48% of all Bing 'Valentine's Day' searches in 2016 were from mobile, up 8% from 40% in 2015. (Source)
  8. Online shoppers are looking for images of products (78%) and product reviews (69%) before buying.
  9. Men are spending more than women on Valentine's Day. (Source)
  10. Singles are still looking to treat themselves and buying luxury items. (Source)
  11. If you're a seller of candy, cards or flowers, they remain the most-gifted items. (Source)
  12. However, if you're a seller of tech such as smart phones, laptops, tablets and wearables - you need to be positioning yourself as 'the gift your other half really wants' - this is the most searched for gift type. (Source)
